Best Produce

I'd reallly like to get back into eating tons of fresh fruits and veggies. But I want to try the different weird stuff. (brocco sprouts is top on my list). Where around here has the best produce? Both in selection and quality. And where the heck can I find broccoli sprouts?

I am so very blessed
I just signed up for a local CSA that will provide to you all kinds of different locally-grown veggies, fruits and herbs (and even honey and handmade soaps if I wanted).

The CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) place that I will be using is based out of LexPk, but they deliver to all kinds of high caliber restaurants in the DC area, as well as individuals who sign up for their service.

If you're interested in more info, I can pass it on to you.

In short, they have all kinds of traditional veggies and fruits, but they also have some exotic / unique / different kinds of items that I'd likely not pick up in the grocery on my own (if the local stores even had the items, that is). This is my opportunity to try things that I've not tried before, and to see what I can do with all of the items that truly are the freshest I can get - short of growing them myself.

Broccoli sprouts or broccolini? I actually prefer safeway for fresh veggies. I do purchase them from other stores but they are not nearly as good in quality.

If you have a Costco card they have an EXCELLENT produce area w/ great prices! I can get a 5lb bag of sugar snap peas or snow peas for $4, Cara Cara Oranges 10 lb bag for $7, 3 lbs of bananas for 88 cents. etc.

Is this costly? How does it work?

YOu sign up for a season (Summer/Fall), for instance, pay a fee, and you can swing by, or have them deliver, a box each week that contains all kinds of cool things. The items are pretty much different each week, it seems.

Go here to get more info: evenstarfarm@evenstarfarm.org

That sounds really good, I didn't realize there was an large organic farm so close by. My kids think I am a weirdo for my organic herbs and garden!
Oh the correct link for even star farm is: LocalHarvest - CSA Details

Thats how them b*tch's R
Out of curiosity, is it more food than one can eat in a week? There's nothing I hate more than buying fruits or veggies and them going bad before you can eat them all. We are a family of four. If you go to the place to pick up the produce yourself, do you get to pick which produce you take home?
