Can someone offer advice on the best way to get to Georgetown University Hospital from St. Mary's?

Google takes me up 5 through Suitland to 295.

Thanks!

Probably the best way following google's route. Gonna be a pain no matter which way you take.

**Edited** If you are in the Lex Park area, I would jump over to Rte 4 and take it to Suitland Pkwy, then follow Google.

When taking Dad to the VA hospital, it twice led me to a traffic circle with a statue. Then I had to recalculate.

I'm coming from National Harbor ... for 30 yrs I have always gone up 295 - SE / SW Freeway - along the tidal basin .... I always went along the Kennedy Center ... the directions go up the other side

I went up there several years ago and it's a real pain is to actually get to the hospital once you get there. It seems like you can see it but can't drive your car to it. When we left we missed the turn about a block or 2 from the hospital that would get us to the highway out of town. It was rush hour and it took us almost 30 minutes to circle a block to get back to the intersection to get home. I hate that damn city.

Coming from Charlotte Hall, I go up Rt. 5 all the way to Siutland Parkway, then I go thrrough to South Capital St. right past Nats Park and then get on 695 south to Maine Ave exit. Follow that road its either Maine Ave or Independence around Tidal basin go around behind Lincoln Mem. stayinh in right lane then take E st. exit then go about half mile and exit Whitehurst Fwy around to the stoplight make left staying right lane and the merge onto Foxhall Rd. to Reservoir Rd. then amke right. Gurps map is right on it. At end of Suitland Pkwy you can either make a right at the light and go get on 695 or stay straight across the bridge past ballpark and then get on 695 south. Thats the only difference between his way aand my way. His way you probably miss about 5 stoplights. Usually about 1 hr from county line at St. Marys and Charles to the hospital.

I always try to stay away from DC. I usually type in my Garmin to take me away from DC and go across the bridge in to Virgina and go though Alexandria to the Interstate. Whatever it takes to stay out of DC. If you are in DC long enough, you will certainly find out why!
