BEWARE of Earthlink....

Previously on this forum I have sung the praises of Earthlink DSL service but not any more. BEWARE of this company. They have recently inactivated my accounts over a disputed charge and did not even let me know. They just turned me off!! Now I have to wait almost a whole week to get hooked up with someone else.

Call GMP Cable TV.... Get cable modem Internet service. Call 301-373-3201 Usually installed within 2-3 days.

Thanks for the suggestion but I have already contacted Verizon. We have satellite - ditched GMP 2 years ago and do not want to go back. Only problem is it will take at least a week to get hooked up. Never realized how addicted I had become to email when I don't have it.

No, I paid the bill. They said I needed a new modem due to problems with connection. I found out the problem was with my phone line and by the time the modem arrived the problem had been fixed so I sent it back. I only disputed the cost of the modem not shipping or anything else. I had even paid for this this month's service (in advance) already. Then they cut me off. No notice, no email that we have a problem, etc. nothing. When I contacted them about it I was told it was because I contested the bill. What kind of nonsense is that?

And you're not taking it further? :confused: You're owed some money back (month paid in advance) if I'm not mistaken. :shrug:

Oh I have already contacted my cc company and alerted them to not pay any more charges from them. They were surprised when they found out what happened. They will be disputing this month's charge as well. I don't mind paying for the 3 days I had service but after that forget it.

I was so shocked by the way they have treated me. I have been with for years and all of this over $40?? They never even responded to my written request for a credit even after providing them with proof of delivery. I think they outscource all of their customer service/tech support and right hand doesn't know what the left is doing.

I thought about filing a complaint with the BBB but I don't really want them to provide my internet service anymore if this is how they treat their customers and I don't know where else to complain to since the company doesn't seem to care.
