Beware of Flea Treatments

Beware of flea treatments. I had a horrible experience. I tried a different brand on my little dog and he had a terrible reaction. About 4 hours after putting it on him, he woke me up with non-stop barking, pacing, panting, etc. He was barking at the walls, the door, etc. I believe he was hallucinating. It was pitiful. I called the Hotline number on the package and was advised to give him a bath with Dawn dish liquid and also was advised the same and also not to use their product again. No kidding. Finally tonight after 4 baths he has calmed down and is finally sleeping. There is no accountability with the manufacturers of these products. Here is a site with 100's of horror stories.

I had a bad experience with a product called Biospot a few years ago. My pets ears swelled and they were very ill mere hours after application. I took my fur babies to the vet right away, and he told me that here have been cases where pets died after using it. I don't understand WHY it's still on the shelves.

I was trying to be frugal and save money when I bought the Biospot. I won't do that again. I'll stick to K9 advantix or Frontline Plus. My pets have never had a problem with those. I read the horror stories on the website. But my pets have never had any bad reaction.

I'm glad your dog is ok. :yay:

I use Sentinel for all my dogs. It prevents fleas as well as heartworm. It's taken orally once a month. I've never had any problems with it. I found the flea treatments you apply to the skin to be rather messy.

Thank you. He has slept since last night. He did get up this morning to eat and go outside, so he is recovering from his ordeal. I've used alot of the different brands on all of my pets for the past 20 years or so and never had anything happen like this. I've used products on this one his entire life. From reading the accounts on the website this can happen with any brand at any time. Pretty scary.
