The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a car and a bicycle in Largo. The collision took place on September 9th. The bicyclist died in late November. He is identified as 60-year-old Eddie Wellington of Suitland.
On September 9th, at approximately 10:20 pm, officers were called to the intersection of Harry S Truman Drive and Birdie Lane for a crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. The preliminary investigation reveals Wellington was on a bike attempting to cross the intersection when he was struck by a car traveling northbound on Harry S Truman Drive. Investigators are working to determine what exactly led to the collision. Wellington suffered critical injuries. He died on November 21st. The involved driver was not hurt and remained on the scene.
