Bike bravery...

...I swear, you're all brave as hell or just crazy.

I'm going to the greenhouse, 6 am this morn, I'm about alone on the road. Up ahead, I see, right away, a bike coming down the hill towards me, plain as day, you can't NOT see this guy; bright headlight, no sun glare, no traffic and up on my right is a car at the stop sign waiting for me to pass so he can turn left, the direction bike man is going.

I go past and in rear view this ####ing guy pulls out right in front of the bike. How could he NOT see him?

Bike man, being not too crazy slows quickly, asshat pulls in front of him and up the hill they go, bike waving his arms like 'WTF????' No clue if car man even knows he almost killed that guy.

I have no idea why you are all not dead.

There's nothing us bikers can do to prevent stupidity or negligence from another party. Taking evasive action can only be used when foreseen...

You develop a zen like "zone of awarenes". You read slight body movements to predict the actions of other drivers.
Hopefully you survive the first time somebody looks directly at you, and you realize the other person doesn't see you.

I ride like I am invisable and assume every car approching an intersection or in the next lane doesn't see me and is about to yank it over in front of me.

Why I like to maintain a "positive speed differential" LOL
The driver I just passed is aware of me and I won't be in anyboy's blind spot for long.

I hate tinted windows, because I really like to get eye to eye connection.. the one thing that saved me down here when a woman pulled out in front of me. I watched for her eyes, and not only did I not see her eyes, she never turned her head in my direction.. before she pulled out in front of me I had slowed to maybe 20 - 25, so when she did pull out, I slammed on the brakes, and stopped about 3 feet short.

Did I tell you how much I hate tinted windows?

That and watching the tires.. are they rolling? Which way are they turning?

Hubby and I were out one day and in the right turn lane when a vehicle came over in our lane.

My husband is a very good driver, I trust him completely and if it weren’t for his invasive action, we would have been creamed cheese.

I kept saying, how could he have not seen us.

Bring a lot of gum with you....everytime someone does something stupid, spit it at them....if you do it right(especially today with it being warm and they have their window down), you will hit them right in the lap

...THAT'S IT! I freaking saw the car guy LOOK to his right and, lo and behold, here's this big azz bike, headlight blazing, coming down the hill, perfectly silhouetted against the road surface, a bright spot on a sea of asphalt and...he doesn't see him! :jameo:

...and that is exactly how I operate, but I am surrounded by 3,500#'s of steel and they usually perceive that sooner or later! Not bikes.

People only see what they expect to see.
We do a lot of technicial drawings where I work, NOBODY can check their own work because they see what they expect to be there, not what's actually there.

Would THIS face lie?
Kind of off subject here but my son belongs to AMA and he gets this really nice bike magazine every month...It is called "American Motorcyclist"...It has some really good articles and ride information in it...He doesn't read it or could care less about it because only reason he has to be in AMA is because of his racing....I hate to just throw these magazines away....Is there anyone of yous bikes peeps here that might want them? I can drop them off just about anywhere....PM me if you want them and I'll get them to ya...That is all.. :howdy: Go back to your thread...
