Biker honks at driver on cell phone....turns out to be a cop

Should be allowed to paintball any car where you see the driver holding the phone while in motion. Really getting tired of the pervasiveness of it. And I think giving officers a pass is BS. Find a way to let them go hands free or don't let them use cells.

Total 100% bull####. That moron had no business honking that quickly at a circle. What a freaking sanctimonious self important jack ass.

Aside from that, if that numb nut dumb #### can handle a clutch, throttle, front hand brake, rear foot brake, foot shifter, handlebar and his body position and sing that bad, all while blowing stop signs and speeding without hurting anything besides my hearing, a car driver can handle one foot and a steering wheel and a phone call.

Taze that bro.

So the cop gets upset when someone blows a horn? It doesn't matter if he was on the phone for official business, the fact he decided to confront this person simply for this reason makes me wonder if he has the right temperament to be a cop. I mean he decided that he needed to get out of his vehicle in the middle of the lane blocking everyone else from passing safely, just to talk down to the guy. Did he really think that was the best option? If he felt the need to have to talk with this guy, then pull him over to a safe area and have the talk. And then threaten to write a ticket and take things to a judge and basically say "who's the judge going to believe" just because he wanted to flex his "authority" again shows this cop might not have the right temperament to be a cop.

Don't you understand? There is us and there is them. Simple as that. We are the unwashed commoner. They are above the law, and when not above the law, the law is written for them to be above the law ... exempting them from what we must OBEY.

Cops can't multitask any better than anyone else can, doesn't matter what their opinion of their ability is.

Don't know about that. Show me where the cop violated any Co state law.

Cell Phone Use Exceptions

During certain emergencies, Colorado law allows the use of cell phones while operating a vehicle. You may use a wireless telephone on the road in the following situations:

You have reason to fear for your life or safety.
You witness a criminal act or believe one may occur.
To report a fire, traffic accident, road hazards, and medical or hazardous materials.
To report a person driving in a reckless, careless or unsafe manner.

Show me anywhere where biker dude can disprove any of the above exceptions. Good luck. Can't find any rule about using motorcycle horn to wake somebody up.

To me, dude was just trying for his 15 minutes of fame.....

The cop may have been a jerk, but he was within his right to stop the biker for using his horn.
I flagged MD code, but CO is almost identical in text.

Their definition of a highway includes any public road.

There's also the 'vigilante factor'. The biker may have thought he was doing the right thing, but it wasn't his job or call. The right response would have been to call it in. This incident should never have happened.

I just flick drivers off if they're talking on a handheld. I wonder if I could be sited for that?

If its a cop and he views what you did as being disrespectful, stand by. You might not be cited for the finger, but be damn sure he will find something, or just rail you til he has something. Or cite you for BS that will get tossed out just o inconvenience you. Remember "RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!!!!!

Yet, police administrators put cameras, computers, gps, and all sorts of other distracting items in police vehicles. Don't be angry at the police for abiding by the law. In Maryland, there is an exception to the cell phone laws which allow law enforcement officers to use their phones.

Something tells me you would be very upset if a cop beeped their horn or stopped someone who wasn't breaking the law.

They are both a-holes. but the cop takes the prize for being the biggest.

And how well do we multi task? The facts are people are on their phones, playing with the radio, smoking, eating, drinking and so forth, constantly, and if we can't multi task, very well, there'd be nothing but non stop wrecks.

As is, the biker over reacted and honked well before it was appropriate, contributing to the multi tasking.

Yeah He didn't give the guy much time before honking, But the cop could Have given him his warning instead of standing there making a total ass of himself.

If jack ass had instantly and properly said 'sorry officer, my bad, I was in a bit of a hurry' instead of choosing to explain the law to John Law then it's over and done with, have a nice day. But, no. Mo Ron has to double down and give the cop the choice of saying HE was in the wrong or putting said jack ass in his place.

It's not worth you and I arguing over.

Maybe it would have been better if these two said the same thing,.

I'm just not seeing the same video or something. This cop was a total Richard from word one. He probably has the big attitude to make up for low self esteem, because of some physical or mental short comings.

I'm the first to respect the office, but I don't sniff holsters. It may be my age, but I would've asked him to write me a ticket and let me go on my way. I would then ask my lawyer to look over the video and see if it would be possible to request his phone records be entered into the evidence. Tit-for-tat MFer!

He was probably on the phone to his underage boyfriend, asking when the next batch of doughnuts were going to be coming out of the fryer, the irascible little porcine imp!
