Some excerpts of his interview:

"I thought the White House did the right thing in just saying 'we probably shouldn't have said that,'" Clinton told CNN's Larry King in a phone interview Tuesday evening.

"You know, everybody makes mistakes when they are president. You can't make as many calls as you have to make without messing up. The thing we ought to be focused on is what is the right thing to do now."

Former President Clinton also said Tuesday night that at the end of his term, there was "a substantial amount of biological and chemical material unaccounted for " in Iraq.

"At the end of the first Gulf War, we knew what [Saddam] had. We knew what was destroyed in all the inspection processes, and that was a lot. And then we bombed with the British for four days in 1998. We might have gotten it all; we might have gotten half of it; we might have gotten none of it. :really:

"But we didn't know. So I thought it was prudent for the president to go to the U.N. and for the U.N. to say, 'You got to let these inspectors in, and this time if you don't cooperate the penalty could be regime change, not just continued sanctions.'"

Clinton also told King: "People can quarrel with whether we should have more troops in Afghanistan or internationalize Iraq or whatever, but it is incontestable that on the day I left office, there were unaccounted for stocks of biological and chemical weapons.

 I didn't read the whole interview, but it's nice to see a former president erase party lines for a moment and back up his successor.

I thought that was very  of him also! Glad he can admit that mistakes are made! And, his admission that at the end of his term, there was "a substantial amount of biological and chemical material unaccounted for " in Iraq.

I about dropped dead of shock when I heard Clinton's comments on Larry King.

Any of you libbies happen to catch the Willie Jeff show? It was a tribute to Bob Dole, so I'm sure you skipped it. Here's the transcript:

And a highlight - the rest of the excerpt quoted in the story:

I think the main thing I want to say to you is, people can quarrel with whether we should have more troops in Afghanistan or internationalize Iraq or whatever, but it is incontestable that on the day I left office, there were unaccounted for stocks...of biological and chemical weapons. We might have destroyed them in '98. We tried to, but we sure as heck didn't know it because we never got to go back in there.
So there you have it - right from the mouth of your own guy - the guy you loved and trusted and continue to love and trust. Believe it now? Or do you still want more "proof"?

So you use the words of a known liar and all around awful guy to justify your cause? Better come up with something better than that! If anything, that shows just how bad of a mistake it really is!

Make up my mind on what? Just because I don't like the way Bush is handling some things now doesn't mean I was a clinton lover. Being non-partisan, I can see the F ups in both parties. Looks like you are the one who makes up their mind. We aren't supposed to trust a thing clinton says until he says something that supports your decision? Abd what he says concerns people making mistakes? What a riot!

I was under the impression from you and the others that condoned Clinton when he was in office, that his only mistake was cheating on his wife, and getting caught?!?!

People always think that. I guess it is because since I don't like many of the things Bush has done, and because everything just HAS to be Republican Vs. Democrat, I must be a clinton lover.

But now that you mention it, many of his lies did stem from his "relationships", so I guess you would be partly correct. But it is much deeper than that.

Yes, I wouldn't mind not seeing Bush re-elected, but I don't know what is scarier - Having Bush in office again, or one of the tools running on the left. This is going to be one ugly election I have never witnessed a situation where the 2 candidates are useless (I can only remember back to the reagan days)...

Speaking of the left, what happened to demsformd? Would be interesting to see what his take is on the democratic hopefuls.
