Twenty-five members of the Maryland State House of Delegates have introduced a bill that would widely expand the definition of what Maryland considers a hate crime.

That's is the point, they are. This kind of legislation is dangerous because it elevates crime against one group to a higher level than crime committed on someone not of the group.

Really, I don't see it as anything other than making it a Federal crime versus a state crime. No greater punishment is given.
