Friends son is turning 16 and he would like to have a party for him. Anyone have suggestions on where and what to do?

How big of a party? If you plan on a large one you could try renting a rescuesquad or the hall at the firehouse and have it there with music and dancing. That will be pricey tho.

Has your friend asked her son what he wants to do? At that age, usually they just want a big backyard BBQ with their friends and their friends and their friends, etc.

:yeahthat:

If they have a big enough house and yard, just build a fire, order some pizzas and let them hang out.

We've done the Extreme Bowling up at the Waldorf Bowling Ctr, the teenagers really have a good time. It's where they have the loud music and black lights late at night. I'm not remembering the exact hours, but they have it Friday and Sat nights. It's a good time :)

That would be an awesome party for a bunch of teenage boys! They put each other's eyes out, maim and dismember, and last man standing wins :yay:

It really all depends on what the kids are into. I would go for a charter boat when I was 16.

Mix 'em all. Backyard BBQ with beer, hookers and paintball. Get wasted, break out the paintball guns and play "tag the ho." Fun for all! No need to thank me for my brilliance.

At that age I wanted nothing to do with my parents. He may not want a birthday party. Just give him a wad of cash, box of Trojans, and the keys to the car!

Is that what they call it here? We used to do that when I was in high school but it's called "Moonlight Bowling" and if you got a strike on a colored headpin it was worth actual cold hard cash.

Drop them off at Hooter's for wings. Mention to the waitresses that it's his birthday and they'll have the time of their lives.

You beat me to it!!!

But yes, that would be a MEMORABLE 16th birthday..

How many scantily clad waitresses do you think would sit in the Man of the Days lap??

They've changed the name over the years, it used to be called "Midnight Madness" back when I was a teenager. I don't ever remember there being cash for a colored headpin, though.. that sounds like fun!

We're all mad here.
My littlest brother just turned 16. What is your kid into? My brothers are into card games (Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh, etc), comics, anime- all that good stuff. Aardvarks in Lusby is their main hangout and I know that the owners will rent the upstairs out for parties. Don't take my word for it, but I believe they offer packages for providing food, cake, and ice cream, too. The owners there are really nice and I would recommend the place.

Otherwise, I like the idea of paint ball that was mentioned earlier! :)

seriously, 16 is a little old for a B-day party thrown by his parents. Sorry, but its the truth. Tell him he's got $XX to spend, and he can do it himself: invites, planning, partying, AND cleaning. Several decades ago, you would have married him off already, let him be and act like a grown-up.
