Birthday Party Ideas

What love is all about
Ok here goes this will probably be long but please bare with me. My daughter turns 4 on December First. She is in school this year and so I get to throw her a birthday party this year and invite her friends not just family this time. So I was wondering...

What kind of theme to have.My daughter wants Dora which after I have thought about it would be great because then I can do Dora and Diego where I can have goody bags for boys and girls not just giving the boys all girly things. But I kinda like the Disney Princesses Cakes I have seen. Not so much the Dora ones. Then I was thinking though Disney Princesses would be girly but since I can't sleep tonight and I was thinking about this I came up with I could build off of that and have Princes and Princesses. So which idea do you guys like.

Secondly based off of those two ideas because I will go with one of those....

What would be some good activties to have that are based on those? Like based on what goes on on the cartoons for Dora and Diego what would be some good things I could do. I am not very creative so I can use all the ideas I can get.

What would be good if I went with the Princes and Princesses idea? I was thinking about letting them make their own crowns, but that's all I got.

Where do I go to get the supplies for the ideas that are given?
How many activities should I have planned? And how long should each one take?

I have three kids but only two that would be particpating. Then my daughter has 14 other kids in her class besides her. Then I plan on inviting the sibilings of said classmates. Not sure how many that will be. Then my sister has 7 kids. Plus their are two little ones around here that I was gonna invite. Plus 5 or so cousins. So saying everyone that I invite shows up there is 30 kids that I can say will be there for sure plus a couple of sibilings or so (this is just FYI in case you need it to answer any of my questions).

Also where would be a good place to hold this? I am planning on calling in the morning and getting a price to rent the room that the Fire Department has. Is there any other places that would be good?

I am also gonna call around and get a guess at about how much a cake would cost.

Well thats all I have got to ask for now. TIA

If she wants Dora, Let her have Dora.

Goodness you're going all out for a 4 year old's bday party. 30 kids. :faint: Holy cow!

My youngest daughter's bday party is Saturday. Nothing special. A few of her friends, a cake and a new bike. She's happy, I'm happy, and I didn't spend fortune. :yay:

If she wants Dora do activities she does on her show. Make maps so they can figure out how to get from point A to point B and maybe at the end can be a pinanta or something special. Go to nickjr.com or disney.com and theres plenty of ideas of party things and activities! I only had boys but we always had a theme people went with and things were always fun. If you do the prince and princess theme have them dress up and have a tea party or something like that. Hope it all works out!

:faint: My son turns 4 in Dec. too but it is still family and friends. I would let her pick the theme it is her party just because you like the other one better.

:yeahthat: Why on earth would you consider changing the theme just because you like a certain cake better? She is 4. It is her party. Twenty years from now when you look back on this party, you will remember that Dora was her fav at this time in her life. If you change the theme to what YOU like, your theme will have no significance on who/what your daughter was all about at this point in her life.

My duaghter will be 2 on November 5th. Were having a combined party with my nephew from out of state the middle of November. Were doing a Dora & Diego party. It fits them both because my daughter loves Dora and my nephew loves Diego. Don' want to give away all of my ideas but were having about 10 kids and doing and "adventure" just like they do on the Dora TV show. Each kid will have backpacks with things that we need inside (net, box, ect) the Map, and 3 places that we have to go to before we get to where we need to be. I've been working on the idea for over a month now and I think that I am more excited then anybody. :yahoo: I say if your daughter wants Dora then let her have a Dora party.

Why dont you want to give out your ideas??? I dont see anything wrong with sharing and if it helps someone else, its a good thing.

Happy Camper!
Idid princesses for dd 1st birthday and gave out princess and cars party favors. For DS 3rd birthday he wanted Cars and wouldn't you know I had tons of party favors left over from dd's so I just recycled them for his party as well.

Ok I get everyones point about it being her party. Let me just say this that shes loves both Dora and the Disney Princesses and would pick either one in a heartbeat. Sorry if I wasnt more clear on that at 2:30 in the morning. Thanks to all who gave ideas and responded. I actually did a search on Dora and Diego parties once I started thinking and came up with some cute ideas so I am figuring if that is what she picks I can go back to that web site.

I know its HER party but when it comes down to it you are paying for it and you should have the final say. I agree with both sides and just make sure she has a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Is there at least and adult party afterwards? We would do that for a looong day spent with kids we adults would get together after the party and have a few drinks and have ourselves a little party too!

Nope because I will have to be cleaning up afterwards and I would rather not drink and tend to my kids. In the past I have gotten a babysitter when we went out drinking that would have them overnight. I havent even drunk in like gosh over 2 years. And I couldnt now even if I wanted to because I am breastfeeding my son. Besides I dont think it would be safe to offer liquor to those that will be driving kids home.

30 kids to entertain? Skip the map and crown making and go to a place, jumpyard, or the adventure place in leonardtown - you need to keep them busy. Get a themed cake, some decorations and goody bags and be done with it. Goody bags could have pencils, stickers, a little candy - everyone is happy. Oh and the pull pinatas are GREAT!
