The Supremes will begin hearing arguments this week.
It's pretty obvious that birthright citizenship was meant for people who intend to live in the US as permanent residents and be Americans. The 14A was ratified to ensure former slaves would have citizenship, reversing Dred Scott. It doesn't mean that people can come here illegally, have a baby, and *they* are now American citizens - they can take the kid with them when they're deported or they can rehome it here, their choice.
The focus will likely be what "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" means and it will be months at least before there's a ruling.
The Democrats are all "But we've always done it this way
" but Supreme Court decisions get overturned and/or clarified all the time. SCOTUS has been kicking this can down the road for like 150 years, and now it's time for them the sht or git. You'd think KBJ would be in favor of sticking to the original intent of the14A, but she doesn't have the brain power to make her own decisions; she'll do what her handlers tell her to do. ACB is a weenie who, sadly, is also out of her league and doesn't seem to understand constitutional law.
I'm liking Trump taking on all these issues that the feckless politicians have left to fester. He has a mere 4 years to right the ship and he seems to be not wasting any time.
