It was about 1-1/2 feet higher than this during Hurricane Isabel and about 1' higher than this during Hurricane Ernesto...Dayum. I lived on the Island for a 5 years, never saw the water that high. I did pull a 30" rockfish out of a roadside ditch one year...
You don't have a jetski?Island really flooded today. Outer banks really got slammed by this extreme tide event...we just got good and wet. Having a n old truck with 40" tires helps...had to go rescue the missus who was stranded over on the mainland. View attachment 141535 View attachment 141536
No. Nothing as serious as that. It's just the State testing the Mean High Water marking. So wherever the edge of the water is, the State owns, and controls, that land as the water recedes. Seems as though it's pretty much all of Gilligan's Island is owned by the State now.melting polar ice?
If I may ...

Glad we spent the weekend at our "other" island in 7D. The piers were under water but otherwise fine there..the average elevation is about 12'..not 5' like St. George's..
The poop tanker trucks are still staged at the Piney Point landing parking lot.
