Bitmap (*bmp)

I have started taking pictures with my cell phone mainly out of convenience instead of my digital camera. However, I've noticed when I transfer my pictures from the phone to a photo site like Snapfish or Shutterfly and then from there to my computer, it saves them as "bitmap" files instead of "jpg". So, if I try to post them to Facebook, they don't show up in the picture file on my computer but if I just go directly to the picture file, they are there. Anyone know how to correct this?

You can open in Paint and "save as" once the window opens there will be a drop down menu under the file name, click that and look for .jpg. No need to download anything.

true, but irfan view will 'batch' convert an entire folder

Well, that works to convert from bmp to jpg, but you'd probably be better off just finding a better way to transfer the files to your computer. Conversion degrades pictures and multiple conversions just make it that much worse.

What kind of phone do you have?

Cant you save the files as jpg/jpeg's on your phone instead of bmp's? I have never seen a cell phone that saves at bmp's, bmp's are much larger than jpg's and take up a lot more memory/space

I don't know how to save photos to my phone. I take the pictures and "send" them to Snapfish. Once they are on the Snapfish site, if I try to save them to my photo file on my computer, that's when they are saved as bmp's. I tried to batch a bunch yesterday and it worked but when I went to post them to Facebook, the file showed as empty. If I click on the file from my photo file on the computer, they are there. As long as I can get them from bmp to jpg, even if it's just one at a time, that's fine.

You guys helped so much the last time, I'm needing more. I scanned a picture at my work (only place I have access to a scanner) and it saved the picture in Adobe. I tried the Infraview to change it to jpeg but it won't work. Any other way to get it out of Adobe and into something I can work this???

not unless you have the full version of Adobe, not a reader. (that I know of)

Open the Adobe doc with the picture, COPY the picture, PASTE it into a PowerPoint slide, do a File/Save As, Save as JPG.
