This year, these campaigns are even more widespread, voting rights activists say. And while in most cases, it's not clear who is behind the disinformation, the intent is unmistakable: to depress turnout among people of color by fueling cynicism and distrust in the political process.

What makes these hoaxes so powerful is not where they come from, but how successfully they tap into voters' worries.

When you know you are going to lose states with heavy mail in ballot voting, screw with the mail system: deny overtime, remove sorting machines, slow the process....then go to court to prevent legal ballots that were postmarked on our before election day from being counted if they arrive after election day.

Further suppress the vote by limiting the number of drop boxes and sending out misinformation about where the drop boxes are.

Trump can't win a fair contest...so he cheats. It is what he did last time, it is what he will do this time, it is what he has done all his life.
