I spent the night at Wal-Mart last year that was pretty crazy :jameo: They had advertised a big screen tv for $498 about 300 people that were in line were there for that... they only had 5 of them:faint: Needless to say there were a few shoppers who were violently angry

I'm surprised they even had 5 of them at that price. Sounds like their gimmick worked pretty well to get 300 people waiting all night to get one. Usually they only have 1 to sell at the advertised price.

This will be my first year going out on Black Friday. Do you think it will be very bad this year?

It depends on where you plan on going, what time you plan on being there and what you are after

I go every year and I havent really seen anything to exciting so far. However Wal-Marts ad can not be leaked (with out legal action being taken) until Nov. 19th. Hopefully they have some good sales. Last year I saved about $500 camping out at Wal-Mart :yay:

The ad said each store would have a minimum of 5 some stores had more

The reason there was a near riot though was that the people at the front of the line who got the 5 tickets were wal mart employees. So a lot of people were yelling and getting rowdy about that. I wasnt there for the tvs though all my boys wanted gameboys and a Wii so that is why I camped out. Got them too :yay:

I won't ever do the crazy door-buster deals again by getting up at 4 oclock. It wasn't worth the insanity. I just go at my own leisure in the morning to get good deals on clothes and some toys.

IMO, it is what you make of it. If you don't like crowds, waiting in line and just a complete mess of things, you are probably better off staying home.

A friend of mine plans to hit Potomac Mills earlyy (5am). She said that particular mall doesn't start getting crowded until about 11am.

I don't do a lot of shopping for Christmas, but I think it might maybe be fun to go on that Friday just to see it ( all the maddness ) I aways have to work that day. I did stop at Walmart early that morning on year to get my son the Play Station 2, we were one of the lucky ones to get one, but you could not push a cart thru the store so if you were doing a lot of shopping I don't know how you would carry everything. It was wall to wall people. My husband spent the night at Best Buy last year, he was one of the very first people in line, they only have a very few of the big sales items and they come out at about 4:00am and give you a ticket for those items untill the tickets run out. He did get a great Lap Top Computer and a desk top for my son's room at a really good price, so it was worth it. I had to work the next day say I stayed home with our son.

I agree- if you are SUPER patient and go with a positive attitude, it can be alright. I like the ladies who go together with big matching crazy hats on and make it a party. LOL. I think the big ol' hats are so they can spot each other in the stores when the crowds get insane.:lmao:

Oh yeah, pushing a cart through WalMart that morning will prevent you from getting anywhere. Don't do it if you can avoid it.
