blood sugar problems

My husband apparently has some blood sugar issues. Just barely over the normal count, so they want to re check in 3 months. This is not the first time he has had this problem. Anyone have any suggestions on how to change his diet to help with this problem. I know he needs to watch his snacks, but other than that I need suggestions. Thanks for any help you can offer.

A lot of people seem to forget that starches break down into sugar. Also, watch out for the sauces on pizzas, spaghetti etc as they are generally high in sugar. If he is hypoglycemic (as I am) easy on drinking milk also - generally onbe 8 oz glass a day is what is advised.

Lots of good info online about diabetic diets.

My best advice to him is to start getting some daily exercise in, 30 mins of walking a day does wonders even if he breaks it up over the course of the day. A pedometer helps too.

:yeahthat:

The best starting point for info on diabetes or pre-diabetes is American Diabetes Association Home Page

Exercise is very important to keep blood sugar levels in the good range. His doctor should be doing a HbA1c test for a true reading of his blood sugar.
