Blur were legends in England in the 1990s -- they and chart rivals Oasis spearheaded the "Britpop" movement -- but while Oasis released several hits in America ("Wonderwall," "Champagne Supernova"), Blur never had much success on this side of the pond. Unfortunately.
However, they have always been one of my favorite bands. Damon Albarn is, in my opinion, a terrific songwriter and musician. After Blur disbanded, he co-created the very popular Gorillaz. And Graham Coxon, the lead guitarist, is another favorite musician of mine.
They recently reformed and briefly toured, including headlining Glastonbury. I'm hoping they announce a few U.S. dates, though I'm not holding my breath.
The one Blur song I hear on the radio is "Song 2":
Tons of people seem to know this song, but not the band who recorded it.
