The Board of Education presented two resolutions to Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) students and local union representatives at its Oct. 8 meeting. The following resolutions are presented annually:
The school system celebrates American Education Week Nov. 18-22. American Education Week provides opportunities to celebrate public education and honor those who make a difference to ensure that every child receives a quality education. Linda McLaughlin, Education Association of Charles County (EACC) president, and Sarah Burch, president of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) accepted the resolution at the meeting. Board of Education Chairman Virginia McGraw presented the resolution on behalf of the Board.
CCPS celebrates American Freedom Week Nov. 4-8. During American Freedom Week, schools give special recognition to those who serve the country and those who gave their lives to preserve America’s freedom. Special activities take place in schools to honor and celebrate patriotism. Accepting the resolution at the Board meeting were students enrolled in the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) program including: Cadet Capt. Jalen Hagans, senior at St. Charles High School; Cadet 1st Lt. Immanuel Harvest, senior at Henry E. Lackey High School; Command Sgt. Maj. Brooke Quade, senior at Thomas Stone High School; and Capt. Donnesha Dee, senior at Stone. Board of Education Vice Chairman Latina Wilson presented the resolution of behalf of the Board.
