The Board of Education presented two resolutions to Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) students and staff at its Oct. 10 meeting. The following resolutions are presented annually:
CCPS celebrates American Freedom Week Nov. 6-10. During the week, schools give special recognition to those who serve the country and those who gave their lives to preserve America’s freedom and liberty. Special activities take place in all schools to honor and celebrate patriotism. Accepting the resolution at the Board meeting were students enrolled in the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corp (JROTC) program. They are Army Cadet Lt. Col. Ryan Salyers, senior, Maurice J. McDonough High School; Navy Cadet Seaman Rosemari Kieser, freshman, La Plata High School; and Marine Cadet Lt. Col. Maya Young, senior, St. Charles High School. Board of Education Member Mark Crawford presented the resolution on behalf of the Board.
The school system celebrates American Education Week Nov. 13-17. American Education Week provides opportunities to celebrate public education and honor those who make a difference to ensure that every child receives a quality education. Accepting the resolution at the Board meeting were student liaisons to the Board. They are Katie Willett, senior, Henry E. Lackey High School; Jordyn Best, senior, North Point High School; Elizabeth Braziel, senior, Thomas Stone High School; Joyah Magee, senior, McDonough; Jonathon Moss, senior, St. Charles; Thomas Rahill, senior, Westlake High School; and Shaun Burroughs, senior, La Plata. Board Member Virginia McGraw presented the resolution on behalf of the Board.
