Book Clubs

I like to read so I'm a natural for a book club. The Senior Center here has one that I thought might be fun, but it's a bunch of older women and they read like crap. Romances and stupid sht like that. For fiction I like thrillers and suspense, gritty police procedure - John Sandford, Michael Connolly, like that. So far all their book picks are ones I don't want to waste my life on.

So that's kind of annoying.

I like to read a wide range of fiction, from thrillers to bosom heavers, but I can't figure out what in the hell needs to be discussed about the fluff and bosom heaver books. Just how deep can a discussion about how deep he thrusts be? Plus, I just like reading for relaxing and enjoyment. I'll gladly talk to you about what characters I liked or not, or "oooh, yeah, I loved that part", but I don't want to dive into "what was the author really saying" type of thing.
