Boot Manager Missing

I was trying to eliminate the red "disc drive full" indication on my C drive last weekend, so I started deleting what I thought were only .log and .tmp files, because those were the file extension names. Somehow, either through ignorance or inattention, I deleted boot manager files, or the entire boot manager, I don't know; guess I got a little delete-button-happy.
Now, when re-starting my laptop, it goes to a blank screen with a missing boot manager message; and that's as far as things go.

I have an old CD backup set that I made a few months ago, but no disc labeled "boot manager." I have tried re-booting the laptop with each of the 10 backup discs but nothing works.
I'm not even sure I can get the laptop to re-boot in safe mode. I've tried all of the Function keys F1-F12.....nothing.....

I couldn't have mucked it up better if I had poured coffee on the keyboard. /:-\
Even had to dust off my old desktop computer and get it working again.

Kernel panic: Aiee.......
Should be fairly easy to fix. You just need to get a hold of an install CD/DVD for the OS installed.

Do you still have the CD's that I gave you?

DK...you are a dangerous man when you start cleaning up your computer. When you get it working again the first thing you should do is buy an external drive and make a backup image of the system.

I managed to get the laptop working again. Recovery (C:) drive shows "4.00 KB free of 24.0GB"
