That's the warning from Arizona lawmakers hoping to find out what really happened earlier this month when four Tennessee National Guardsmen reportedly retreated when confronted by armed illegal immigrants along the border south of Tucson.

"What are they here for if they are going to retreat from people with automatic weapons?" asked Committee Chairman Warde Nichols, who said the incident may send the message that the National Guard will retreat if faced with armed individuals. "It is not in the best interest of Arizona or U.S. border security," he added.

Guess I don't understand why they are there either.

12 men armed with automatic weapons vs 4 gaurdsmen. There's a time to stand and fight, and there's a time to retreat, I think retreat was probably the best option.

Mexicos government should get one warning to stop their filth from stepping into this country and attacking.
after that, it should be considered as sanctioned by the country of Mexico and be treated as an act of war.

I say at that point we pull out of Iraq, and put all troops on the border to defend this country against the hostile governments of south america.

besides, the oil in south america is alot closer to us than the oil in the middle east.

But if they were allowed to shoot before they let the Mexican forces flank them, there wouldn't have been 12 armed men left. They weren't allowed to do anything but let those men come right up to them and then retreat. Maybe retreat was the best option this time, but if you're not allowed to shoot, why the hell are we there?
