You know, the kind that are works of art and you hate to use them? Like, my neighbor gave me a bath set that included a soap that looked like a sand castle with cute starfish and shells and things worked in. Smelled like good suntan lotion.

Do you use them or leave them as a decoration?

I use mine because I hate nicknacks and clutter, but I do like good smelling soap and candles. It only stabs the first use, then it's not a work of art anymore and you can use it without guilt.

Patchouli is my favorite scent and I have gifted soaps in my bathroom dating back probably 15-20 years ago. I don't use most scented soaps as they don't necessarily make me feel clean nor do I think they make me smell good after drying off. However lotions, oils and perfumes do so every now and them, I dust the soaps off and appreciate that people close to me (or that used to be) gifted me items they think I'd like. based on my lifetime love of patchouli.

I hate bar soap with a passion, so I never use those little soap sculptures  I would decorate with them, though it's been a long time since receiving any -- I don't even know where I'd purchase any today. I appreciate a good bottled soap though, bonus when the bottle is super pretty and coordinates with that candle!

Oh except I hate all fruity flavors, with the exception of citrus... maybe I'm not as laid back as I like to think I am

Yeah, there are a lot of things in this world that I wonder why they exist, and fancy sculpture soaps are one of them. They're pretty, but if they're going to be a decoration why are they made of soap?

I'd venture to add decorative towels to that list as well. I have them, but only in one spot -- my oven's handle since I'm the only one that used that thing anyways  . It's cruel to hang pretty towels in a bathroom and expect people not to use them.

:yay:

My towels go with my color scheme, but they are working towels. If you wash your hands in my bathroom or kitchen sink you may notice that my hand towels are coordinated to the room, but you wouldn't hesitate to dry your hands on them. They look nice but don't identify as decoration.

Same. Especially with the great selection of them nowadays at HomeGoods, etc. I can easily find a pack of cheap AND pretty towels coordinated to the holidays/seasons. And if my husband's grubby hands ruin them...ehh, they were $8.
