So I don't clutter up the sports forum with boxing threads I figured I'd just make one thread to post boxing news.

MOSCOW, August 25 (RIA Novosti) – Ukraine’s World Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko has had to cancel his boxing bout with Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev over an injured tendon, Bild.de reported Monday.

The bout between the 33-year-old Bulgarian and the 38-year-old Ukrainian was scheduled for September 6 at the O2 World Arena in Hamburg, Germany.

According to the Bild, the fight will now be postponed for at least two months and will most likely be held in the end of October.

Argentinian slugger and former world champion Marcos “Chino” Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) held an open media workout Tuesday afternoon at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Oxnard, California in preparation for his rematch with pound for pound king Floyd “Money” Mayweather (46-0, 26 KOs). The two will meet once again Saturday September 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas live on Showtime Pay-per View.

“I am very well prepared. I have trained very well. We have made some adjustments to capitalize on this fight,” Marcos Maidana told Fightnews.com. He looked very sharp hitting the pads as his trainer Robert Garcia and media looked on.
“Training camp for the rematch has been the same, but we have been doing a lot more sparring. We have worked more on my distance, but besides that everything has been the same,” Maidana added.

Former world champion and two-time Trainer of the Year Robert Garcia told us about Maidana’s preparation. “Training camp has been going great. We have been doing more sparring and working on keeping the distance between him and Floyd.”

Morante is a 29 year old Marine veteran. He fell in love with boxing at an early age.

"We take hits," he said. "We give hits."

He competed before he deployed to fight for our freedom, before everything changed.

"I've been an amputee for seven years," he said.

Morante lost his leg during his third deployment to Iraq. His squad was hit by a suicide bomber.

Roach says he underestimated Algieri in Ruslan fight

"I underestimated Algieri when he faced Ruslan Provodnikov in June," admitted Roach in an interview with Boxing Scene. "But I won't make that mistake again."

Thanks to his performance against Provodnikov, Algieri is now set to challenge Pacquiao for the WBO welterweight championship on November 22 at the Venetian in Macau.

His father, who also was a tattoo artist, inked an alligator on Craig’s chest. That led to his nickname, Gator, and a way for him to poke fun at pretension.

He used to cut a hole in his shirts to show off the alligator tattoo.

“He said it was because he went to school with the rich kids, and he couldn’t afford those Izod shirts,” Lenza said
