Boy charged with war crimes at age 15

Ubi bene ibi patria
"Omar Khadr is a young Canadian citizen currently imprisoned at Guantanamo and facing a military trial for war crimes he allegedly committed in Afghanistan at the age of 15.

In July 2002, US special forces in eastern Afghanistan got a tip that al Qaeda forces were holed up nearby. After hours of fighting, the soldiers entered the bombed-out compound but were met by a grenade thrown over the wall that killed one man. They then found Omar Khadr lying in the rubble, badly hurt and begging them -- in perfect English -- to kill him."

He's a child!

He was raised to obey his father without question (as most are in that part of the world). The adults got what they deserved. But did he really have a choice being where he was?

If this were say, some large nutjob group out in the middle of Montana that was conspiring to blow up gov buildings, and the only survivor from a standoff with the FBI was a 15 year old boy who's parents were members, would we treat him the same?

Kids raised in those situations are beyond brainwashed. Kid probably got the stuffings knocked out of him on a regular basis by his old man.

:diva: I bet the USA interrogators got a real sick pleasure when they tortured a false confession out of that child.
so since you obviously there for the interrogation, how come you didnt stop them while the committed the hideous crimes against this innocent young child?

oh thats right, you dont like children, otherwise you would not have tortured your own by neglecting him all those years.

The United States has charged Omar with murder, on the grounds that there was no one else left alive in the compound who could have thrown the grenade, and he now faces a possible sentence of life in prison. The only concession made for his youth was not to ask for the death penalty.
Yep, sounds like they got all they needed before they met him. Tough tortured confession there!

He wasnt from that part of the world, he was from Canada. Spoke perfect Enclish.

His age and wheer he came from dont matter , was he guiklty.?

A 15 year old can throw a Grenade just as fast as a 30 year old and its just as deadly.

They should have double popped him when they had a chance.
Now we have to fart around with the Canadians feed and clothe this idiot.

" The family had moved from Canada to Afghanistan in 1993, and Omar and his siblings grew up playing with Osama bin Laden's children."

So he would have been a small child when they moved there, and his parent's were obviously keeping "interesting" company. How does that make him any different from a child raised in some whack job cult? What chance did he have of escaping that life?

And you forget that 15 year old brains are not fully developed either. That is why they can't vote or buy beer.

If a 15 year old whack job from a cult murdered a person in this country he has a good chance of being tried as an adult. This kid is no different.

In parts of the world, 15 is an adult. Hell, in some cultures here, 15 is considered an adult.
