Braces

CandaceMM

Ummmmm ....
So ... my dentist told me that I need braces. Can any of you recommend a good orthodontist in the St. Mary's area? I'm also in Charles County and would be open to a doc there.

Dentist told me that my jaw is out of alignment and that I should be seen by an ortho. I'm freaking out a little because I've never needed braces before - my teeth are pretty straight.

Anyone else need braces for their jaws being out of alignment? I've heard from some people that it did not help them.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Dr. Kuhn in Wildewood shopping center. All three of my girls went there and they'll work with you financing it over time. Very nice dr. and assistants. Highly recommend.

My Mother had a terrible TMJ problem, that was causing her headaches pretty bad. She got the Braces at the age of 52, and man did that ever help her. To this day..she is pain-free. I don't know any Orthos in your area, but Dr Krisnan is highly recomended in this area of Calvert. Good luck!

The TMJ has gotten worse over the last few months. I think that a good portion of it is stress related to my work. I find myself clenching my jaw at work and I'm in search of a bite guard that I can wear during the day that will not make me look like a football player. I'm still searching ....

Thanks for the reassurance about braces and TMJ. I'm starting to get worried about things but I realize that I just need to get the braces taken care of ....

Do I want braces, no. I'm getting married next year and the last thing I want is to be a 31 year old brace face in my wedding pictures ....

I have consultations set up with a few doctors already. I want to hear what different doctors will tell me and compare their findings. I'm not going to get braces if it does not help with the TMJ ... they'd be pointless.

And yes, I've tried bite guards, warm compress on my face, massaging my face. I pop pills on a regular basis to help with the pain.

If the braces will help with the TMJ, then it's an option. If surgery will help with the TMJ, then that's an option too. My jaw locking up, clinching my jaw and deteriorating my molars is no longer an option.

I went to an Oral surgeon in Annapolis (dont know the name) years ago. he made me a clear mouth guard (thin) that I could wear day or night. Mold of the teeth etc. Snapped in. But not obvious unless you were up close and talking
