Brakes for a F250

I think I need to replace my brake pads. Almost 50k on truck and I do tow a lot. So where is a good place to take it around here. I was told that Cheseldynes (sp) is a good place to go. Any suggestions??? It's an F250. Also any suggestions on the pads like should I go with the norm or go with a ceramic type pad...Someone told me not to do the life time brakes because the pads they use don't wear down but the rotors do. Any feed back appreciated.....

Disc brakes are REAL easy to do.
You can probably go and buy all new bads and rotors and replace them yourself for less than the price to get a shop to do new pads and turned rotors. Then take the old rotors and get them turned, put a coat of WD40 on them and put them on a shelf in the garage until next brake change and use them. Then get the ones from this change turned and start the process again.

Should the rotors be changed? :faint: It is just starting to feel the wear on the pads. But with towing a horse trailer loaded I feel the need to stop better. I have no pulling or hopping when brakes are applied. They just feel weak , not safe for a fast hard stop if needed. But if rotors have to be replaced. I'll do it all at home with a little help from a friend. :nomoney:

gxsr2005 As far as the pads I will get the ceramic ones:yay:.. I'm some what mechanically inclined but i'm to old to lug on tires ,brakes etc.:lmao:

Your breaks must really be acting awful. You should get them replaced as quickly as you can.

How can I tell they are so bad off?

You were in my 'hood, and as I was driving out, you never even stopped to say "hi". :howdy: You just flew by to get to M&D's house.

:smoochy:

Rotors probably do not need to be replaced, just turned. I said to replace them to save you a trip back to the auto parts store unless you have a 2nd vehicle (kinda hard to pull the tires to get to the rotors in the parking lot of the parts store). That's why I said to turn your existing rotors and shelve them and use them the next time you do the brakes.

Thanks I did that with my last F250. Matter of fact I sold the truck and still have a set left over from that. I will check them before I repace the pads if they need turning I will replace them and do what you said...:howdy:
