Use this recipe. Trust me, if you make this one, you'll not bother with any other bread pudding recipe.

Caramel Pecan Bread Pudding
1 package (15 oz) plain bagels (6 bagels, usually)
3 cups milk
¼ cup packed brown sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup coarsely chopped pecans
½ cup butterscotch caramel ice cream topping

Additional butterscotch caramel ice cream topping (optional)

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Cut bagels into 1-inch pieces . Place bagel pieces onto a sheet pan and place in oven for 15-20 minutes or until lightly toasted. Cool slightly and transfer to an oven-safe 5- or 6-quart baking dish. Set aside.

Combine milk, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla and cinnamon in a bowl. White until well blended. Pour mixture evenly over bagel pieces. Let stand 15 minutes; mix well.

Sprinkle pecans evenly over bagel mixture; drizzle with ice cream topping. Bake 45-50 minutes or until pudding is puffed and knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes.

If desired, microwave additional ice cream topping for 15 seconds or until warm. Spoon into dessert dishes and serve with warm topping.

I never have any luck locating anything on google. But I have been searching all of the food sites, ( food network, kraft foods, etc ) and everyone has bread pudding with everything but what I am looking. I will try this recipe. Is there a taste difference between half & half and whole milk?

Definitely, the more cream in the milk the richer the pudding. For an extra special creamy texture and taste I sometimes substitute EGGNOG for the milk.

Low fat and skim will work but the texture will not be as rich.

Now I'm craving bread pudding - thanks:yum:

Eggnog Bread Pudding

Serve pudding with hard sauce for dessert or with fruit topping for breakfast.

½ c. chopped pecans or walnuts
About 2/3 of a 1 lb. baguette cut into ¾ in. slices (sourdough was also really good)
1/3 c. raisins
2 c. eggnog
4 large eggs
½ c. sugar
½ tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. nutmeg
¼ c. dark rum or brandy (optional)
2 tsp. vanilla

Toast nuts until lightly browned. Set aside.

Arrange bread slices slightly overlapping in a lightly buttered 3 – 3 ½ qt. baking dish. Sprinkle each layer with nuts and raisins.

Beat together remaining ingredients and pour over bread. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour until bread is completely saturated.

Bake at 350* for about 35 minutes until center of pudding jiggles and the top is golden brown.

Spoon into small bowls and serve with hard sauce or fruit topping.

Hard Sauce:
Bet together until fluffy ¼ c. butter (room temperature), 1 ½ c. powdered sugar, ¼ c. eggnog, 1 Tbs. brandy or rum, and 1 tsp. minced lemon peel (yellow part only). If sauce is made ahead, cover and chill up to one week. Makes 1 cup.

Fruit topping:
In a 10 – 12 inch nonstick frying pan, melt 1 Tbs. butter over med-high heat. Add 2 large firm ripe pears, cored and sliced; 2 large apples cored & sliced; ½ c. sugar and 2 Tbs. lemon juice. Cook fruit turning occasionally until liquid evaporates and fruit is slightly browned, 10 - 15 minutes.

Is there a taste difference between half & half and whole milk?

Yes, half and half is MUCH richer tasting and considerably thicker in texture.
