As headline says - one's serious... Just more proof the street is narrow. If anyone has anything on the scanner.
UPDATE: Mitchell Rd. off 301 is CLOSED...AndyMarquisLIVE said:As headline says - one's serious... Just more proof the street is narrow. If anyone has anything on the scanner.
You would think they'd post a low speed limit if the road is that narrow.AndyMarquisLIVE said:As headline says - one's serious... Just more proof the street is narrow. If anyone has anything on the scanner.
The problem is not the speed limit; the problem is kids heading to/from CSM that drive the speed they want regardless of the speed limit.kwillia said:You would think they'd post a low speed limit if the road is that narrow.
*ding**ding**ding* Just as the problem isn't the narrowness of the road. I'm hoping Andy will get the point.hvp05 said:the problem is kids heading to/from CSM that drive the speed they want regardless of the speed limit.
I think a measuring tape would be all you'd need to prove the street is narrow.AndyMarquisLIVE said:Just more proof the street is narrow.
There are several bad spots along the stretch between the college and 301, due to the curve of the road moreso than the width.kwillia said:Just as the problem isn't the narrowness of the road.
Andy, please stop putting "BREAKING NEWS" in your headlines. I know you have an unatural obsession with KO, and you dream of one day becoming his lover, but everything that happens in the world is not "BREAKING NEWS."AndyMarquisLIVE said:As headline says - one's serious... And people are trying that area at 45 mph. I wouldn't do 45 mph on that curve in dry, daylight, nonetheless in these conditions. I think if the street was a little wider or had guardrails (it does on the curve), it would be a little better - but that would be way too much trouble to do.hvp05 said:There are several bad spots along the stretch between the college and 301, due to the curve of the road moreso than the width.
I don't think it would be better. I like the fact that that one particular bend is somewhat tight because I am reminded to slow down and pay special attention; other responsible drivers will do the same. (Not to say I'm always Mr. Safety, but in the known trouble spots, I do pay attention.) However, if someone wants to do 10, 15 or even 20 over the limit another couple feet of lane space will not prevent them from sliding off the road or meeting another car nose-to-nose.AndyMarquisLIVE said:I think if the street was a little wider or had guardrails (it does on the curve), it would be a little better - but that would be way too much trouble to do.

Andy Andy if it was a little wider then it would be just like your favorite road (Radio Station ) and you know what happens on Radio Station don't we, they'd catch people driving too fast in a school lane.
Really don't think the people who live along and off of Mitchell Rd. in Mt Carmel would welcome a wider road, they already have enough traffic going to the college and Im sure many people use that road for a bypass to get to 225, now that there are like maybe 3 traffic lights on 301 before 225 now.
What the planners of Charles County should look at is to continue extending Rosewick Rd across 301 and have it come out somewhere near the Country Club on 225. Then you would somewhat have a bypass (Mattawomen Beantown Rd., St. Charles Pkwy, Rosewick Rd) from 301 at the county line all the way to west of Laplata. Then what you would have is a road for people to use who can't keep up with the speed of 301 and impede the traffic (does that ring a bell) .
