Has just left one dead and one critical in Waldorf. The shooter a police officer from another county took her own life, check St Marys Today, for once I think they have all the details correct from what I have heard. Pretty quick getting it out there they were.

WOW, last night we were talking about men being the more aggressive in another thread on this board.

I want to say this could be the first time a female police officer has committed such a crime?

Oops, here is the St. Mary's Today link.

Holy smokes, Vonzell's sister.....................

ETA- Seems she was a SGT. and was one of the main spokes people for PGCP during the "sniper shootings"

Sgt. Tora Coates, we can go ahead and say her name. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to check the property records and do a google search.

Yes, she was the prime spokesperson for Prince George's County during the time of the sniper incident, attractive black female if I remember correctly.

Absolutely unbelievable. There must have been a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on to cause all of that to happen. It doesn't really sound like she was shooting to kill him - just to wound him. What a sad ending.

Probably just a bad shot. I doubt she was shooting to wound him.

She was a Police Sgt. - Doesn't she have to pass a proficiency test?

If she was armed she does, that doesn't matter, the qualifications are pretty easy. Espcecially under stressful situations it is really easy to flinch and shoot really low. And not picking on women here but, some have trouble with the double action trigger and shoot real low as a result of struggling to squeeze it.

I have seen people kick up dirt from the 7 yard line.

Just dosen't make sense to go into a rage and decide to shoot someone without meaning to kill them, especially if you are going to shoot yourself afterwards.

I see what you're saying. I hadn't thought about that plus duing a struggle it's going to be harder to get off a clear shot anyway. Thanks.

This is the part that I thought was most interesting:

Coates is the sister of Vonzell R. Ward, the former sheriff of Calvert County.

Men make women crazy. I'm surprised there aren't more incidences of women shooting them or beating the #### out of them.

... and vice-versa! At least shooting them that is :sarcasm:

...either way, IMO, it takes a lot of mental torment to point the gun at someone and pull the trigger, then turn it on yourself! Guess after she shot his ass she realized what she had done and turned the gun on herself (pure speculation)...

Sad, Sad, Sad...

I've never felt the desire to want to shoot somebody, just bash a chair over their head, kinda scared me too.

I do wish they would release his name and more about his condition. I wonder if he was a fellow officer? :tap:

When you're rilly rilly pissed, a gun just seems so...impersonal. Not satisfying like throwing something and clocking them upside the head. :yay:

I had not heard what the cause of the shooting was, only that the man was shot multiple times and crawled out the front door
