The path to healing has been well documented since 1969 when Elizabeth Kübler-Ross wrote about the seven stages of grief in her book, "On Death and Dying." Every individual takes a personal journey and it's important to understand that grief is a process.
No matter what stage of the grief process you are facing, there is help. Calvert Hospice provides support for anyone grieving the death of loved one whether or not that person was a Hospice patient. Bereavement services are available for adults, teens and children who are Calvert County residents.
The Drop-In Support Group is held at Calvert Hospice on Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 238 Merrimac Court in Prince Frederick. No preregistration is necessary and is free to Calvert County residents.
Calvert Hospice also offers "Bridges," an eight session grief support program for children ages 3 to 12, teens ages 13 to 18, and adult family members who are grieving the death of a loved one. Children and teens are divided into age-appropriate peer groups where creative activities and discussion are used to assist with coping and healing. Adult family members learn the similarities and differences between child and adult grief, and gain knowledge on supporting their children, as well as themselves. Bridges meets Thursdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Prince Frederick.
The next session of "Bridges" begins October 11th and runs through December 6, 2012. Pre-registration is required. Please call Calvert Hospice at 410-535-0892 to register before September 28th, 2012. Bridges is also free of charge to Calvert County residents.
