Broken Elevators

“If there were a fire, people with disabilities would die because they could not get down the stairs- unless someone physically carries them, as I have done when there are actual fire alarms. Tell me how someone in a wheelchair supposed to climb the stairs? Crawl up the stairs?” Lubecky, said.

I can understand the frustration of a broken elevator, but if there is a fire then the elevators are the last thing you should be using. And if people have mobility issues, upper floors really shouldn't be the best place to live.

Besides, Sheldon, Penny, Amy, Leonard, Howard, Raj and Bernadette put up with a broken elevator for how long?

Retired Union Elevator Mechanic here, How do you think the Fireman get to the 20th, 50th, 75th or the 150th floor to put out the fire?
If the building has electricity, they don't hump the stairs.

They use their FD key and take control of the car, all other buttons on the floors are disconnected. Also, depending on the fire code and alarm system, elevator cars are automatically sent to the main floor and locked open till alarm is reset or the FD takes them over.

I was working at a power plant about 30 years ago. When the Firemen rolled into the plant, I followed them in with a security guard escorting them upstairs. I jumped on the manlift and passed the firemen and the guard stopped resting after about the 5th flight of stairs. I continued up on the manlift, and they gave me a special kind of dirty look as I went by. When I got up a couple more floors, I saw that the plant personnel had put out the fire. The firemen were still walking up the stairs when I passed them on my way down to go to coffee break.

To be honest, and really not being a dickweed. They were smarter than you.

They repaired it multiple times. Somebody keeps stealing the cables.
