Brush fire near Prince Frederick

Heard a second alarm call for basically all brush units in Calvert County, along with some mutual assist units from St. Marys county for a brush fire on Barstow Road near Prince Frederick. I then got an email from the scanner mailing list that Charles County brush units were also being dispatched.

Anyone closer to the scene have a report?

My cousin emailed me about this earlier today. Supposedly somewhere near the fairgrounds. Rumor is that someone was grilling during all the wind today. I hope that isn't true.

I'm only a few miles down the street, but I come home across the Benedict bridge, so I didn't get to "eyewitness" anything.

They Blocked off

the road that heads north out of Barstow and the smoke had pretty much dissapated by the time of our drive through at 4:30
Brush crews had gathered at the Fairgrounds..perhaps a mile from the fire.

This is the exact situation I was asking about in the ASK HENRY posting.
Has anyone every documented the history of fires in SoMd?

My townhouse is only a mile away, sirens were going off from like 3pm-4ish pm and there was a strong smoke smell to go along with it, I saw some jacked up looking Jeep from Huntingtown Fire Dept. going down 231 as I came back from Wally World.

3-10-06 At 1336 hours, the Prince Frederick, Benedict, and Huntingtown Volunteers were alerted to Box 2-09 for a brush fire. BX-2, Jeep 2, Tanker 2, and Chief 2 responded to the 200 block of Barstow Road and arrived to find a barn fully involved and everything surrounding it. Chief 2 established command and called for the box bringing Engines 22(2B), 21(Sgt Boswell), and Brush 2. Multiple units from Charles, Prince George's, St. Mary's, and Anne Arundel Counties worked for just over five hours to contain the fire with 40mph winds gusting. An estimated 20 acres were burned along with the barn and a trailer.

Wow...

20 acres...I think that is the largest burnout I've heard in Calvert n 20+years.
Thanks for the post!

I hope this isn't rude...

I checked the link and I see fotos of guys, their trucks, and a bulldozer.
There was a fire right?
Its like going to the Indy 500 and taking pictures of your seat, the guy who sold you the tickets, and the refreshment stand.

Hello...firemen...find a picture of the fire.
