Buds Gun Shop?

So, good place to make an online purchase? Thinking I've finally settled on a handgun, the Ruger American compact in 9mm. Man, sorting the part numbers to get a 10 round mag compliant version without a manual safety was a bit of a pain. Luckily Cabelas has a nifty chart to sort the options by part number. I'll be using FBS for my FFL.

Anyone have recommendations for places to buy besides Buds?

Gym Ratz in Mechanicsville he is easy to deal with and good prices.

The price at GR seems to be about the same as anyone, and I would have to go up the road 30 minutes. So in that sense, it makes more sense for me to do online and have it sent to FBS, who are about 5 minutes from my house, and I'll be able to open it up and do some shooting right then on the range.

That's a bummer. Gundeals.com had a few other places you could try. Good luck.

Yeah, figures that everyone else is north of $400. I suppose thats why they can charge $299, then keep costs low by not bothering to deal with restrictive states.

Can't say I blame them, but many places (like Buds) simply replace the factory mags with 10 rounders. Though, I thought the Compact comes standard with 10 round mags. Not sure though.

Ruger has a chart for the American Pistol that covers all 21 variations, of which 10 are compact, seven of those ten are 9mm Luger. Three of those come with 17 round mags, one with 12, looks like. So it can be had with either those or 10 from the factory. Options are great, but do make fiding the right choice a bit harder.

CDNN says they wont ship to MD, unless I didnt understand it.

That policy has been a PITA; I've encountered numerous examples like that. Fortunately I have backup.. a Virginia address. But of course that adds a lot of delay.. ;-(

30 minutes is an awful inconvenience to support a local business. I now order my Amish furniture online from China since it's about the same price and it saves me a trip to Mechanicsville.

You will note I am supporting FBS, another local business. And yes, an hour out of my day does matter. I dont have a lot of those to spare, so I dont give them up easily. Amish furniture made here is a bit different, I would say.

Sure, and I go to the gas station all the time. What does supporting one local business have to do with supporting another? Whether you buy your gun at Cabelas or GR, you are probably going to use the same shooting range, and having it shipped there means about as much as stopping by the gas station on the way. Irrelevant.

Cabela's is not local first of all. You local gun store is, and the money stays in the local economy. So many want to save 20 bucks and could care less about the local businesses.
Plus if you buy local and have a problem with your new firearm, just see what buds and Cabela's does for you, I'm gonna bet your local FFL will either fix it if they can or ship it where it needs to go.
Buds ain't doing that..

What the feck are you on about? I was giving the guy crap for buying online rather than at Gym Ratz and having it shipped to his gun range (I used Cabela's as an example of the online store, not local).
