Buh-Bye VW

A 4" x 1/2" diam coolant hose under the intake of my 2001 Passat wagon blew on Thursday. Then both head gaskets blew. Car went from being worth +/-$6000 to being worthless. Until I remembered the Tech Center has an Automotive Technology program. I emailed the teacher and offered the car. Was up front with what happened. He wants it. :yahoo: Just waiting on the paperwork so I can donate it. Since they are keeping it, I get to write if off for bluebook. Not a total loss.

I am so very blessed
Didn't you just recently get that car? It seems like you haven't had it for very long.

That's an excellent idea. I'll pass that info on. I know of a few people that have old cars just sitting around. :yay::yay:

Where'd you get it?

(oldest is now selling cars in Leonardtown)
Waldorf. GM is a friend of the family. His cousin dated my sister for 4 years in HS. He spent many a day/night at my house back in the day. He also sold me my first car in '93.

Cars are cars. No matter what commercials/advertisers/dealers tell you. The only other option is to buy another vehicle, with the same chances.

Once past the warranty date, it is buyer beware.

Called planned obsolesce. We all have to deal with it.

or else walk/bike/ride your horse.......

Yep.
Drove the Civic, Cruze and Focus. Comment on all of them was "It's a car." None wow'd me. It came down to little things. Civic had no cup holders in the back seat and no bottom end acceleration. Cruze had cup holders, but only when the arm rest was down and it had good acceleration. Focus had 2 cup holders in each rear door and better acceleration than the other 2. The thousands lower price and more options helped too.

Agree. Little things like that decide my choice. Size and location of cupholders are huge. As long as tires and brakes are good, A/C and radio works, along with safe location for my grandsons car seat, all that matters.

If it looks like crap, who cares? Looks, and insurance by my Taurus Judge works for me.

Be it so.

4 wheel disc brakes makes it stop good.
Installed the car seat and 4 year old daughter gave her opinion on each of the three cars when we test drove. Wife sat in the back for part of each test drive to see how our 14 year old would fit in the back (they're the same height).
