Does anyone know where to buy a 55 gallon burning barrel? Proabably a stupid question, but I have no clue where to look.

Thanks in advance.

If JustTodd can't get you one let me know I think I can. Free as well. You may have to cut the top off though

I have one that I use to burn with. they work great.
I can run over a cord of wood through it in about 3 hours if I keep it stoked up.

you have to dig it in and cut it right for it to work correctly though, wont do too well with the normal couple of holes in the bottom sitting flat on the ground.

I used to just burn trash and hedge clippings in mine. I have a gas powered masonary saw. Just put a metal cutting blade on it and Cut about 20 8" long gashes up the sides. Left plenty of air in at the bottom which worked well for that plus the holes were big enough that the rain would was most of the smaller stuff out which kept me from having to dump it very often.

I use mine more for burining and sitting around.
I stuck it down in the field away from everything, got a grill lin the area and the table and chairs.
It can be 20 degrees outside and I can fire it up and heat the area up enough to grill a steak then sit down at the table and eat it in comfort.

just something about grilling and eating a good dinner in the snow.

Funny you would say that.
My barrel design for burning came from an ex-hobo.

when I was setting it up he assured me that if I made it that way, it would light with one match every time.
it does.

little difference here though.
I cook on a real grill, not the top of the barrel.
when I eat, I sit in a real chair with my plate on a table using utensils
not sitting on a stump knawing on a piece of beef (or whatever) with my hads.
when done, I go back to the house and take a shower prior to going to bed, I dont just roll up next to the fire hoping that some animal or other hobo doesnt pee on my while I sleep.

other than that, Im all about the hobo thing.

Dont like living without shelter, but if I could find an affordable trailer for sale or rent, I could do the Main thing like that.

I bet if Roger would have been still alive he could point me in the right direction.

Please...for the sake of your neighbors...

promise that you won't throw in plastic bottles, old sneakers, insulated copper wire, pressure treated lumber, motor oil, and tires?

I have no idea how many days that gentle toxic plume has wafted across my rural acre...from my neighbor.

Stop in at any one of the local garages. They usually by oil in 55 gal drums and need to get rid of them when they are empty.

Thank you for everyone that made suggestions.:high5:

And for the people that left me RED karma for simply asking a question -- thank you for taking time to leave the rude comments, although unnecessary. :nono:
