"WASHINGTON - President George W. Bush signed the nation's first new gun-control legislation in 14 years Tuesday to help keep guns out of the hands of the dangerously mentally ill, and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy immediately announced she would take her crusade to the next step.

This time, she and others want to close the so-called "gun show loophole" that allows some dealers to sell firearms without background checks."

That is bull####! All dealers have to go through NICS. The only way you don't have to go through NICS is if you are a regular gun owner and want to sell your gun to someone else, you don't need the governments permission.

As I have said before, all right thinking people realise there are some gun laws that need to be passed, but every time one is passed the next is always in the corridor waiting. Give gun haters an inch and they aren't satisfied until they get a mile. Here is incontrovertible proof of that axiom. No sooner did the President sign a bill than they have the next one waiting. They anti-gun forces wont be happy until all guns are taken from the hands of American citizens.

:yeahthat: Reasonable people know there are reasonable limits to all rights ("fire" in a crowded theater, etc). Only a fool would see this law as a bad thing, and tie useless laws to reasonable laws.
