Lie #1--They Attacked Us: Iraq Supported Al Qaeda.
Lies #2 and #3--Imminent Threats: Iraq's Bio-Chem and Nuclear Weapons Programs.
Lie #4--It Will Be Easy: Iraq as a "Cakewalk."
Lie #5--The Moral Justification: Iraq as a Democratic Model.
I fully agree, that these are the lies. Not told by Bush, but the myth spread by those that cannot think for themselves.
Lie #1: Training camps allowed to exist in one’s backyard constitute support. Do you honestly believe that these camps could have existed without Hussein’s knowledge? You think the Patriot Act is intrusive, try a little good old fashion Iraqi intrusion, he knew they were there and thus supported them, cause he sure as sh!t didn’t make them leave.
Lie #2 and #3: Not only was Iraq an imminent threat (we do know that they had the material and the ability to make more, that they had shown that they were quite willing to use it (just ask the Kurds and Iranians), and they did have an ongoing desire to enter the nuclear arena) they actively engaged in an effort to kill coalition aviators conducting UN sanctioned operations around the no-fly zones.
Lie #4: Cakewalk? Rumsfeld said that? I am certain if he ever uttered such a phrase it was taken out of context. But then again, if you look at it compared to many other operations our military has had the pleasure (sic) of experiencing, honestly, that isn’t that far off base. Yep, we’ve lost valuable people, but it was war and that happens. Overall it was and still is a significant military achievement. How many do you think we would have lost in 1991 if we just kept going? How many in the mid to late 90s if we just did something instead of letting this continue to fester? Could we have gotten this over with a long time ago and maybe changed events that led to 9/11?
Lie #5: The Moral Justification was never about creating a Democratic Model. It was about getting rid of this fungus that contaminated that nation. The one that had been threatening revenge from 1991 and swore death to our leaders, the one that never once complied fully with the requirements for that conflict to be considered ended or any of the many that followed giving him chance upon chance to meet the requirements the world placed upon him (notice I use world because it was the world that said this to our one time ally and not us alone), and the one that, quite frankly, bit off more then he could chew. Though I will admit that he held on to what he had bitten for 13 long painful years.
