From the Navy Hymn,

Lord, guard and guide the men who fly
Through the great spaces in the sky
Be with them always, in the air
In darkening storms and sunlight fair.
Oh hear us when we lift our prayer
For those in peril in the air.

Rest in peace, brothers and sisters.

It's actually the Air Force Prayer

Prayer for the Air Force

Lord guard and guide the men who fly,
Through the great spaces of sky.
Be with them as they take to air,
Im morning light and sunshine fair.

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Give them courage, make them brave;
Protect them whereso'er they go,
From shell and flak and fire and foe.

Most loved Member of their crew,
Ride with them up in the blue.
Direct their bombs upon the foe,
but shelter those whom Thou dost know.

Keep them together upon their way.
Grant their work success today.
Deliver them from hate and sin,
and bring them safely down again.

O God bless the men who fly,
Through lonely way across the sky,

Amen.

kickstand

De omnibus dubitandum est
One of my coworkers was in this unit before he retired. He didn't know any of the crew personally though. It was a pretty young crew.

RIP

Mary C. D. Hamilton

Short Name: Mary C. D. Hamilton
Full Name: Hamilton, Mary C. D.

Lyrics of “Lord, Guard and Guide,” also known as the “ United States Air Force Hymn.” The text is derived from a prayer by poet Mary C.D. Hamilton. She also used the same text in “A Hymn for Aviators,” a musical setting by English composer C.H.H. Parry. Hamilton wrote her prayer in 1915 during World War I with the transcript first appearing in the “American Student Hymnal” of 1928 set to Mozart’s “Dona Nobis Pacem.” Years later during World War II, the initial verse of the prayer was adapted for use in “The Navy Hymn” as a tribute to naval aviators.
