MSNBC's ratings have skyrocketed...

Imus in the Morning has beaten American Morning on more than one occassion and in a year has closed the gap bigtime.

The 8pm hour is also where there's been a major shift.

Countdown's ratings are up 67% in total viewers and 61% in viewers age 25-54, according to Neilsen Media Research. Bill O'Reilly's ratings are down 9% in the 25-54 demographic and 22% in total viewers.

Dan Abrams told MSNBC staff in an e-mail:
I want to congratulate everyone on what was a fantastic month of October for us across the board. Our editorial and technical performance was top notch, and our viewers have recognized that hard work. Not only did MSNBC have its best ratings for the full day since Hurricane Katrina, but we were up 35% from this time last year in the key demo (adults age 25-54) and up 14% among total viewers. Competitvely, it was our best performance since April of 2003!

In Primetime (7p-2a), we were up 37% in the demo, the most growth of any cable channel, and 23% in total viewers. Dayside (9a-6p) was up 30% in the demo and 14% in total viewers while CNN and FXNC were both down. Imus has also been on a roll, up 80% from a year ago in the key demo, his best numbers since April ‘03.

We should all be proud of this progress. More important, as we head into this important election, I am convinced it’s just the beginning. Thanks to everyone and let ’s keep it up!

Is this the same news organization that recently announced they were cleaning house, getting rid of reporters and programs and breaking up with Micro$oft as a partner? Is that the agency we're talking about here? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/19/AR2006101900205.html

I love spin, I truly do! And I love to watch the movers and shakers try to polish a turd.

:roflmao:

Imus wouldnt be so bad if he would get a haircut and take off that stupid cowboy hat.

I mean he is a liberal so we really dont expect to learn much, but sometimes he is entertaining. but that hat Geez. We all know he has a ranch, he hawks it every 5 minutes. Take off the phony hat.

Once again, Facts are NOT your friend. as low as Olbermann's ratings are any kind of increase will sound significant. but its just fluff he's nowhere near O'reilly (even though he devotes most of his show to bashing Fox, Fox Talent and specifically O'reilly)

Once more, conservative spin. Check the ratings there when you say Olbermann is 3rd - he's 2nd in the money demo. And he's actually closing in on O'Reilly. I do believe Olbermann did beat O'Reilly a few weeks ago. Growth is the key. If you're product is number one but declines in sales for months on end, eventually it falls to number two.

I wish you would find another forum to post in. TIA. :huggy:

You know what is even funnier? O'Reily's re-run at 11PM has over 450,000 more viewers than Olberman in prime time and nearly double Olberman's in "the money demo". :roflmao:

You have that exactly backwards. If your product falls in viewership, THEN it falls in revenue, not the other way around.

Or do you think they sell something other than advertising?

Looks like Fox is kickin a$$... :coffee:

See, MSNBC is consistently growing as a product. It's doing just like FOX News did for it's first 8 years. Abrams has finally found something at MSNBC that sells and I'm not sure what it is. Perhaps it's the graphics change and the changes to MSNBC Weekends and the changes to Countdown. Although I'm a little mad about what they've done to Tucker Carlson and Joe Scarborough's shows.
