No dogs allowed on the fairgrounds. :yay:

Nope we went last night... big sign. Saw a very able bodied family of three though w/ a dog that had a service dog vest on... dog was pulling on the lead and generally not behaving as a service dog typically would be expected... reminded me how easy it is to just go buy a vest and throw it on your dog....

I'm always amazed at the places people take dogs. Firework displays is always a mind boggler.

LOL! I did that one year when we were working on desensitizing a dog to gunfire... Small "neigborhood" type display down in FL. I had the only dog, and he did great. The following year there were a bunch of people w/ dogs scared out of their wits. Lucky nobody got bit, etc that night. I'll always wonder if those poor dogs blamed me for making their owners stupid...

I was going to take the SAR dogs out for socialization to the noise, animals... its good "leave it" training for them with all the food around plus it is a great confidence building event. These type of working dogs need to be exposed to such environments. If there was ever a call out in an environment such as that the dogs need to know how to react to all the people walking around, the noise, the rides, the animal droppings (that they think are treats) and not to mention people food on the ground.

Im sure if I go in uniform and dog are in their working gear they would not have a problem with it.

Maybe maybe not... Depends on if they are only allowing dogs that fall under the ADA or not... Don't know what the policy actually is, if they will let a bonafide service dog in other than an assistance dog....

I have never had a problem taking them anywhere... I use to work Elvis in Walmart.

I have no plans to take him to dinner or into a restaurant with me!

But if they ask .. I explain what they do and what they get from it then they have no problem at all.
And being in uniform gives a little more comfort ... so its not like Im "just" bringing in my dog to have them with me.

I took both of them to the Bass Pro shop (at Arundel Mall) one afternoon.... it should have only taken me 5 mins in the store to grab what I wanted.... 2 hours later we find ourselves in the checkout line. They LOVED the dogs.

Yes I've seen what happens when you have your dogs out in public, LOL!

I used to fly w/ Caber in the cabin... That was post 9/11 and I actually had a couple pilots thank me, they he made them feel safer, LOL.

It always annoys me that I see so many people in stores with itty bitty dogs and they are typically ignored... But if ever tried to walk in w/ one of mine....

The Home Depot in Orlando allowed dogs for a while, and I brought Caber in there a lot. The employees loved him, always had treats for him... then one day a new manager took over and changed that. I didn't know yet, and had brought Caber in, and the guy told me I couldn't have him in there. I immediately cooperated, only to turn and see someone else walk right by us with a Golden, and nothing was said... Can you say breed discrimination? LOL. I wrote a long nasty letter to their corporate, and got a nice apology letter back, and a 25% off coupon, LOL. Next time I went up there, there was a big 'No Dogs sign'. Sorry, Dobermann guy ruined it for all a ya!
