Just an update to everyone wondering.
9 brothers were transported to local hospitals. The injuries ranged from superficial burns and injuries to major burns and burns to the respiratory tract. Two firefighters were flown from the scene to Washington Hospital Center's burn unit (aka Medstar) as priority one patients. The house was approximately 10,000 square feet. They were dispatched to a chimney fire and arrived on scene with smoke showing from the residence and fire in the attic area. As they were making their searches for the fire, the chimney essentially imploded as was said earlier and collapsed through the house, invoking fresh air to the fire and subsequently causing a near flashover on every floor it fell through. Extreme measures were taken to escape the house, such as diving out windows and busting through walls.
As it stands right now, seven of the nine firefighters have been released. The two that were flown still remain at Washington Hospital Center, with one in serious but stable condition. He was intubated and sedated last night for his pain but today is reportedly conscious and alert. He remains the most serious of all the injuries.
