Calvert scanner server reset

I am going to execute a scanner server feed reset to boot *everybody* off and let the folks that are activly listening reconnect. Those that are idle won't reconnect. This will allow some folks that have not been able to get on to get access to one of the Calvert feed slots.

The scanner feed slots have been maxed out for two days straight now!

It's based on IP address. A single house, for example, can be using a externally visable IP and a Network Address Translation router (NAT) (typically a Cable Modem router) to serve multiple computers on the inside-the-firewall network. Thus, two users appear to the server to be using the same IP address -- non-unique users. So, in the case you cite above, one user has two computers in his house listening to the scanner. SLOT HOG, I mean, sheesh. Normally no big deal though....

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. It's the people that have two connections running, but they're the only one listening to it. Can't be in two places at once.

Scanner Usage and purchase

Not sure what the connect times are on the scanner. What kind of price is the cost of a scanner that can do the job. It is nice that it is on the web here. Many thanks for doing it. Lately it has been harder finding a slot, I think because more people are sitting on the slots. I would be curious to know what the usage is - average connect times, same ip or different ip's, etc. Oh well. I probably should buy one and I should also buy something from the sponsors too.

Thanks again for providing the scanner service and forum to discuss things.

Currently no slots open, all 50 in use. There were about 15 slots open earlier this morning but we've been maxed out for the better part of three days now.

The Calvert scanner is a Uniden BEarcat BCT-15 Trunktracker III . I have a decent antenna mounted on a pole that puts the antenna about 25' up, and I'm also at a high point for Calvert, elevation is about 120' MSL here.
