During the week of January 31 - February 6, 2022, deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,394 calls for service throughout the community.

Theft: 22-05254


On February 1, 2022, Deputy Durnbaugh responded to the Walmart located at 10600 Town Center Boulevard in Dunkirk, MD for the report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between 6:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., unknown suspect(s) stole the rear Maryland registration plate from a vehicle parked in the parking lot. The value of stolen property is $100.00.

Theft: 22-06166

On February 6, 2022, Deputy Shoemaker responded to 1900 block of Harvest Grove Lane in Prince Frederick, MD for the report of a theft. The complainant advised a blue and black Yamaha YZ450F dirt bike was stolen from a barn behind the residence. The value of the stolen property is $9,070.

Theft: 22-05995

On February 5, 2022, DFC Gilmore responded to the 9100 block of Bay Ave in North Beach, MD for report of a theft. The complainant advised sometime between 2 p.m. on Feb. 3 and 2 p.m. on Feb. 4, unknown suspect(s) stole the rear Maryland registration plate from his vehicle. The value of stolen property is $100.00.

Firearms Complaint: 22-05599

On February 3, 2022, Deputy Morrison responded to the 2900 block of Stinnett Road in Huntingtown, MD for report of a firearms complaint. The complainant advised they heard a shot fired and moments later, the complainant’s dog limped into the residence with a bloody leg. Contact was made with nearby residents who advised they were not aware of anyone shooting in the vicinity and did not have any guns. The investigation is ongoing.

On February 2, 2022, Deputy Grierson conducted a traffic stop in the 3800 block of E. Chesapeake Beach Road in Chesapeake Beach, MD. Upon making contact with the driver, Derwin Montel Jones, 26 of North Beach, MD, a strong odor of marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. Deputy Grierson observed a loaded, black and silver Smith & Wesson handgun lying on floorboard in plain view. A search of the vehicle revealed $609.00 in US Currency, a digital scale with a white powdery residue (suspected crack/cocaine) and a cigarette box containing crack/cocaine. Jones was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with CDS: Possession with Intent to Distribute Narcotics, CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana, Concealing a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Loaded Handgun on Person and Carrying a Loaded Handgun in a Vehicle along with additional firearm charges.

On February 1, 2022, DFC E. Evans was transporting John Michael Connell, 36 of Lusby, MD to the Calvert County Detention Center for driving under the influence. Upon arrival, a search by Correctional Deputies of Connell’s person revealed cocaine in Connell’s jacket. Connell was charged with CDS: Possession- Not Marijuana and Possession of Contraband in a Place of Confinement.

On February 5, 2022, S/DFC Mitchell conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Cove Point Park in Lusby, MD. Upon making contact with the driver, Kelly Greenan, 32 of Lusby, MD, S/DFC Mitchell observed a large bag of Xanax bars in the front seat of the vehicle in addition to several prescription pill bottles containing Xanax, Suboxone and Oxycodone for which Greenan did not have a prescription for. Greenan was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana.

On February 5, 2022, DFC Idol conducted a traffic stop along Rt. 4 in the area of Dowell Road in Solomons, MD. Upon making contact with the driver, Trinik Shatega King, 27 of Lexington Park, MD, Deputy Idol observed a large amount of clothing with tags still on in plain view. It was confirmed the suspect was seen on Walmart surveillance footage exiting the store with stolen merchandise. A search of the vehicle revealed 48 stolen items, 44 of which were confirmed stolen from Walmart valued at $291.38. King was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with Theft: $100 to Under $1500.00.
