During the week of May 24 – May 30, deputies of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1,521 calls for service throughout the community.

Theft: 21-27757

On May 24, 2021 Deputy Parks responded to the 900 block White Sands Drive in Lusby, MD for a reported theft. The complainant advised his registration sticker was stolen off his license plate. The value of stolen property is unknown at this time.

Theft: 21-27890

On May 25, 2021, Deputy Savick met with a complainant in regards to a theft report. The complainant advised his unlocked vehicle was parked at the Drum Point Clubhouse in Lusby, MD from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. On May 23, the complainant noticed multiple prescription medications were missing from the vehicle. Among other stolen items were: two phone chargers, a charger converter, Polo cologne, a pocket knife, one pair of gray Air Force Ones and approximately $3 in U.S. currency. The total value of stolen property is unknown at this time.

Theft: 21-28131

On May 26, 2021, Deputy Gough met with a complainant in regards to a theft report. The complainant advised her front license plate had been stolen off her vehicle sometime between May 22 and May 23. The vehicle was parked in Solomons and Lusby, MD during those timeframes. The value of stolen property is unknown at this time.

Damaged Property: 21-28199

On May 26, 2021, Deputy Bowlan responded to the 4000 block of 17th Street in Chesapeake Beach, MD for the report of damaged property. The complainant advised sometime between 8 p.m. on May 25th and approximately 7 p.m. on May 26th, unknown suspect(s) had damaged her mother’s vehicle and items from within the vehicle had been stolen. Damage included a slashed spare tire and a broken rear view mirror. A bag of miscellaneous clothing and a handicap placard were missing. The estimated value of damaged and stolen property is unknown at this time.

Damaged Property: 21-28298

On May 27, 2021 Deputy Woodford responded to Windy Hill Middle School located at 9560 Boyds Turn Road in Owings, MD for the report of damaged property. The complainant advised a large glass window near the entrance of the school had been shattered. The estimated value of damaged property is $500.00.

ARRESTS

Grace Helen Guyton, 19 of Prince Frederick, MD


On May 24, 2021, at 8:49 p.m., the Calvert County Control Center dispatched an attempt to locate (ATL) for the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office (SMCSO). The ATL was in reference to a subject involved in an assault involving a knife. Calvert Deputies located and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle in the parking lot of Patuxent High School in Lusby, MD, but the vehicle fled the area. The vehicle was later observed traveling 90 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputies activated emergency lights and sirens in the area of NB Rt. 4 and Calvert Cliffs Parkway in Lusby, MD, the vehicle continued travelling northbound and refused to stop. The vehicle began travelling at a higher rate and was observed traveling in excess of 130 mph making numerous lane changes without signaling. Deputies deployed stop sticks along northbound Rt. 4 at Oakland Hall Drive and at German Chapel Road in Prince Frederick. The fleeing vehicle came to a rest on the shoulder of Rt. 4 in the area of the NAPA Auto Parts store located at 1654 Solomons Island Road S. in Prince Frederick. The sole occupant of the vehicle, Grace Helen Guyton, 19 of Prince Frederick, MD, fled on foot and was apprehended on the side of the NAPA store by DFC Parks. Guyton was placed under arrest for Fleeing and Eluding law enforcement. While in police custody, a strong odor of marijuana was detected on Guyton’s person. A search incident to arrest, revealed three baggies of suspected marijuana. Guyton was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where she was charged with Disorderly Conduct, numerous traffic offenses and issued a civil citation for Possession of Marijuana in the amount less than 10 grams.

Tyler David Edwards, 26 of Lusby, MD


On May 25, 2021, Deputy Abercrombie responded to the 8700 block of C Street in Chesapeake Beach, MD for report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, contact was made with the homeowner who advised the suspect identified as Tyler David Edwards, 26 of Lusby, MD was attempting to steal a bike from the residence. Deputies were able to apprehend Edwards. Further investigation revealed, Edwards was responsible for additional burglaries in the area. Edwards was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. A search of Edward’s personal upon arrival at the Detention Center, revealed a syringe in his front pocket. Edwards was charged with 4th Burglary Degree-Theft, 4th Burglary Degree- Dwelling, Theft $100-$1500 (2 counts), Theft less than $100, 2nd Degree Assault, Rogue and Vagabond, Possession of Contraband in a Place of Confinement, CDS Admin. Equipment (Possession of Controlled Paraphernalia).

Mitchell Thomas Lake, 25 of Lusby, MD


On May 29, 2021, Deputy Sturdivant responded to the Holiday Inn located at 155 Holiday Drive in Solomons, MD for the report of a disorderly subject. The complainant advised a male subject identified as Mitchell Thomas Lake, 25 of Lusby, MD was heavily intoxicated, acting belligerent, and broke a coffee table in the reception room of the hotel. Deputies arrived on scene and observed Lake trashing around on the ground and detected a strong odor of alcohol emitting from his breath and person. Lake failed to obey deputy’s commands and was placed in handcuffs for his safety and the safety of those around him. Lake was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center where he was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Intoxicated Endangerment, Intoxicated Public Disturbance, Malicious Destruction of Property < $1000, Resisting and Interfering with Arrest.
