The County is growing, the young kids aren't joining LIKE THEY USED TO,
Which of the fire houses in SMC are... paid??Calvert County is the only County that has no paid, fully staffed fire houses, rescue, etc...
Which one? There are a couple who..............never mind, I don't want to get sued.I dont know. I'm only relying on what a Calvert County ranking commissioner told me this morning.
re-address the post for additional information just added.Which one? There are a couple who..............never mind, I don't want to get sued.
I believe some of the SMC RS have paid paramedics during the day.SMC site, looks like all volunteer here.

No, the Calvert County ranking commissioner is wrong.fine. I'm wrong.
Aren't those paid members part of the county's EMS? I think the RS are still all volunteer.I believe some of the SMC RS have paid paramedics during the day.
I'll defer to you. All I know is sometimes the Second District ambulance has paid personnel, sometimes volunteer.Aren't those paid members part of the county's EMS? I think the RS are still all volunteer.
I think that started in earnest a couple years ago when EMS started billing insurance carriers to recoup some of the costs for their service. I think initially the county hired about 16 or so. Don't know if it has expanded or not.I'll defer to you. All I know is sometimes the Second District ambulance has paid personnel, sometimes volunteer.
No, they don't. They may be paid working elsewhere (Prince George's). But regular ambulance runs are staffed by the volunteers.I may be wrong, but I believe all of the rescue squads in St. Mary's have career (paid) personnel. Listening to the scanner I hear a unit number followed by "Charlie" (Ambulance #98-Charlie) I inquired about this and was told the "Charlie" designation is for the career units. In Calvert, North Beach, Dunkirk, Prince Frederick and Solomons have career staff for the ambulances.
A couple days ago. The guys I see tooling around in the ambulance aren't career. Yes, a couple are stationed at those stations. When as the last time you were there? The stations I mentioned are staffed by career EMT's and Medics, working a 24/48 shift.
North Beach-2 paid, Solomons-4 paid, Pr. Fred-4 paid (2-shift, 2 7a-7p), Dunkirk-2 paid. If you notice there are several ambulances running the roads of Calvert that have the lettering Calvert County Emergency Services and are a different color.A couple days ago.
