I did a search in Switchboard.com and Ritz Camera in Waldorf is the only thing that showed up within 50 miles of St. Mary's county. I don't know where you "locally" is centered. If JBR or even Deadeye are still checking these boards he might know of some other places.

Strauss camera in DC is the only repair shop and I know of. There is no one closer to Southern Md than DC.

I have over $7,000 woth of gear at Strauss being repaired right now. A Nikon 70-200 VR II that they said can't be fixed, it's $2,400 to replace, a D3S that's around $600 to fix, a 300mm 4.0 lens that is $250 to fix and a SB600 that's $120 to fix. At least insurance covers all but the 300mm. They are a pain in the azz to deal with but Ritz is a joke. Strauss is the way to go if you are talking about a DSLR.

I usually send my Nikons straight back to Nikon USA and eliminate the middle man. I found that its much cheaper, and MUCH faster.

Every once in awhile, they surprise me with a free-bee. For that, and a few other reasons, I won't buy anything else.

How long does it usually take for Nikon to get your camera back to you? Also, what kind of work did you send it in for?
