a group of friends are planning a camping trip here in st. mary's county (one afternoon/night, leave the next morning). we want somewhere secluded, preferably near a beach. any ideas? so far the only place we could think of is on base (pax river nas), so if anyone knows anything about that, your help would be much appreciated

We enjoy point lookout for close to home camping. But any place near the water is going to have mosquitos until at least November.

Every place will charge you a nightly rate (I assume you are thinking along the line of stopping along the side of the road in a state forest and just pitching yoru tents wherever). Reservations are always a plus, guarantee you a site and most of the time you can choose your site ahead of time (near the water/restroom/trail whatever your fancy happens to be) Each park/campground has different rules as to the number of units (tents & vehicles) per site also the number of people per site.
