Mayor acknowledges 1982 killing

EAST CLEVELAND, Ohio (AP) -- The mayor of East Cleveland, Ohio, acknowledged that she killed a man 22 years ago and was convicted but said she acted in self-defense, according to a published report Saturday.

Especially like this part:
She told the newspaper that she recalled being convicted but said she could not remember the charge.

Okay, I know that felons cannot vote, but can they run for office? I guess so. Maybe we need to update some laws. What do you think?

Each state determines whether or not those who have been convicted of a felony can participate in elections.
